Will Host
The First Annual 5K/10K WHITE SQUIRREL RACE
Brevard, NC on Saturday, May 24th, 2008
Join the Rotary Club of Brevard, the Brevard Rotary Foundation, Inc., and the Community of Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina for the First Annual White Squirrel Race. This event benefits the Foundation and their associated charitable outreach programs. Come out and run in the countryside of beautiful Transylvania County, in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Pisgah National Forest. After the race, which will begin at 8 A.M. on the campus of the Brevard Music Center, enjoy a full day at the Heart of Brevard's WHITE SQUIRREL FESTIVAL, in downtown Brevard. The street will be blocked off with lots of food venders, great shopping, lots of musical entertainment, and much much more! DETAILS OF RACE
Distance: 5K (3.1 miles)/10K (6.2 miles)
Date & Time: Saturday, May 24th, 8 A.M. Start Time
Rain Date: Race will take place rain or shine
Location: Race will be formed in the parking lot of the Brevard Music Center, on Probart Street
Course: Through the countryside of Transylvania County. See the course map files:
Awards: The overall top three male and female finishers in both distances will receive Gold, Silver or Bronze medals
The top three male and female finishers in their category in each distance as listed below will also receive Gold, Silver or Bronze medals
Categories: Medals will be awarded in the following age groups

- 13 to 18
- 19 to 29
- 30 to 39
- 40 to 49
- 50 to 54
- 55 to 59
- 60 to 64
- 65 to 69
- 70 to 74
- 75 to 79
- 80 and up
Restrictions: The following restrictions will apply:
- Age 6 to 100
- Participants must be in good health and must sign a waiver to particpate
- Participants under the age of 18 must have an accompanying adult sign the waiver form. See the REGISTRATION FORM for the waiver.
Entry Fee:
- 5K - $20, 10K - $25 until May 18th, then $25 5K, $30 10K thereafter
- FREE T-Shirt to First 250 Runners registered by May 18th
- The entry fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Race Day Registration:
- Check-in & late registration will be from 6:30 A.M. to 7:45 A.M. on race day.
- NO ENTRY after 7:45 A.M.
- Early Check-in or registration on Friday, May 23rd from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
- Location for both dates in parking lot of Brevard Music Center
- Runners pickup bag at check-in
Timing & Chip Pickup:
- Timing is provided by SETUPEVENTS using Championship Chips
- Chip pickup is on race day from 6:30 A.M. to 7:45 A.M.
- You BIB Number must be presented to pick up your chip
- You must wear your chip on your shoe in order to be timed and receiv your results after the event
- Lost or non-returned chips will result in a $25 charge

Directions:
- From the north or south using I-85, from Charlotte or Atlanta, take the I-26 W exit at Spartanburg, SC, to Asheville, NC. On I-26 W, take Exit 40 (Asheville Regional Airport) west on NC Highway 280. Proceed to Brevard on NC 280 through the Intersection at Pisgah Forest onto Highway 64 & 276 West. Go about 4 miles to downtown Brevard. Just before Main Street take a right on Probart Street. This will take you to the entrance to Brevard Music Center, the site of the race.
- If you are coming via I-40 from the east (Raliegh) or west (Knoxville) take the I-26 Exit East to Exit 40 (Asheville Regional Airport) west onto NC Highway 280. Follow the directions in the preceeding to Brevard.
- If you are not using the Interstate Highway system, US Highways 64 and 276 give east and west access to Brevard.
