The Thirteenth Annual 5K/10K Firecracker Run

Brevard, NC - Friday July 4, 2008

     

Join the Rotary Club of Brevard, the Brevard Rotary Foundation, Inc. and the Community of Brevard, North Carolina for the Thirteenth Annual 5K/10K Firecracker Run. This event benefits the Brevard Rotary Foundation and their associated charitable events. Come out and run in beautiful Brevard, NC, in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah Forest National Forest. After the race, which will begin at 8 AM, enjoy a full day at the Heart of Brevard's July 4th CELEBRATION OF OUR NATION'S BIRTHDAY, in downtown Brevard, which will be blocked off with lots of food venders, great shopping, lots of musical entertainment, and much much more. . Details of the Run

 
     
Distance:   5K (3.1 miles)/10K (6.2 miles)
 
Date & Time:   Friday, July 04, 8:00 A.M. Start
 
Rain Date:   Run will take place rain or shine
 
Location:   Downtown Brevard
 
Course:   Since the 10K is new for 2008 a course has not been completed at this time. Course will be added here as soon as possible
 
Awards:  
  • The overall top three male and female finishers in both distances will receive GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE medals .
  • The top three male and female finishers in each category as listed below will also receive medals
  • The top three male and female finishers in each category as listed below will also receive an award.
Race/Award Categories:   Awards are based on the following age categories:
  • 12 and under
  • 13 to 18
  • 19 to 29
  • 30 to 39
  • 40 to 49
  • 50 to 54
  • 55 to 59
  • 60 to 64
  • 65 to 69
  • 70 to 74
  • 75 to 79
  • 80 & up
Restrictions:  
  • Age 6 to 100.
  • Participants must be in good health and must sign a waiverto participate.
  • Participants under 18 must have an accompanying adult sign the waiver form. See the registration form for the waiver requirements.

Entry Fees:  
  • 5K - $20 until June 22nd, $25 after June 22nd. 10K - $25 until June 22nd, $30 after June 22nd
  • FREE T-Shirt to First 250 Runners registered by June 22nd
  • The entry fee is Non-Refundable and Non-Transferable
  • U.S. Funds only.
Race Day Registration & Packet Pickup:  
  • Check-In & Late Registration is from 6:30 A.M. to 7:45 A.M.
  • EarlyCheck-In and Registration on Friday, July 3rd from 3 P.M. to 6 P.M.
  • Location oc Check-In on S. Gaston St. just south of Transylvania County Library for both Check-In dates.
  • NO ENTRY after 7:45 A.M. on race day.
  • Packet pickup on race day.

Timing and

Chip Pick-Up:

 
  • Timing is provided by SETUPEVENTS using Championship Chips.
  • Chip pickup is on race day from 6:30 A.M. - 7:45 A.M. Your BIB Number must be presented to pick up chip.
  • You must wear a chip in order to be timed and receive results after the event.
  • Lost or non-returned chips will result in a $25.00 charge.
Registration:  
  • Method 1: Pay by check and register by mail
    1. Download the Registration form and print it.
    2. Fill in the required information.
    3. Enclose the entrance fee (make checks payable to the Brevard Rotary Foundation, Inc.)
    4. Mail the form and entrance fee to:

Directions:  
  • From the north or south using I-85, from Charlotte or Atlanta, take the I-26 W exit at Spartenburg, SC, to Asheville, NC. On I-26 W, take Exit 40 (Asheville Airport) to the west on NC HWY 280. Proceed to Brevard through Pisgah Forest, NC (the entrance to the Pisgah National Forest) where you leave HWY 280 and pick up HWY 64 & 276 west. The city of Brevard, and the beginning of the race will be about 4 miles from this intersection.
  • If you are coming from I-40, either from the east (Raleigh) or west (Knoxville), you should exit at Asheville on to I-26 E. As above, exit I-26 at the Asheville Airport exit (I-26 Exit 40) and proceed to Brevard.
  • If you are not using the Interstate Highway system, US highways 64 and 276 give east and west access to Brevard.
